The three-hinged arch structure represents the ultimate in flexibility. Unlike column-based structures, it allows you to adapt the milking configuration over time and make full use of the available space, ensuring smooth traffic flow, safety for operators and animals, and compatibility with automated and robotic systems.

Free-flow vs guided traffic in automated systems: cubicles and waiting areas
In barns with robots, ideally positioned at the front of the barn, guided traffic is suited to ‘head-to-tail’ cubicles, separating the resting and feeding areas, whilst free-flow traffic is less restrictive and adaptable to different layouts.
In both systems, there may be some cows that do not visit the robot spontaneously or that tend to have milking intervals that are too long or irregular: operator intervention is therefore necessary, facilitated by the provision of a dedicated area for holding ‘latecomers’.
EASY ACCESS TO THE MILKING AREA
Rota Gates: gates designed for intelligent flow management
Rota Guido has developed two types of gates specifically for managing animal flow in milking systems, designed to improve animal handling and support the operator’s work:
- Split Gate: installed near the milking robot, it allows the cow to access it comfortably. The frame, anchored to the robot’s structure and raised off the ground, allows the scraper to pass through, whilst ensuring cleanliness and operational continuity.
- One Way: used mainly in milking parlours, it guides the animals along a one-way path, preventing them from turning back and making management easier for the operator.
